Make the Time: Arnold Newman at the Harry Ransom Center

Now through May 12^th, you can visit the first major retrospective exhibition of Arnold Newman’s remarkable photographic portraits at the Harry Ransom Center in Austin, TX.  The exhibition includes over 200 of his masterworks in which he captured his celebrated subjects – actors, artists, musicians and politicians – in their personal surroundings that at once put the sitters at ease and embedded the images with symbolic significance.  Also included in the show are contact prints, correspondences, and other treasures from the photographer’s archive that provide a rich context for the highlights of a long and successful career.  You will be completely engaged by these technically alluring photographs in which Newman captured these fascinating subjects.  Don’t miss it.
