When you visit the United Nations headquarters in New York City, the first thing you will see is a large bronze sculpture entitled Non-Violence created by Carl Frederik Reuterswärd. The Swedish artist sculpted the work of art at the request of Yoko Ono after his friend John Lennon was shot and killed in 1980. The sculpture represents the hope for peace and the end to violence around the world.
Today there are 30 copies of the sculpture in public settings. The work of art has become a symbol for the Non-Violence Project which promotes change through violence-prevention education programs.
Lawmakers can prevent violence as well. Call or write your representatives in Washington today and tell them to ban automatic weapons.
