Abstract Expressionist Painter
Paul Jackson Pollock was born on January 28th, 1912 in Cody, Wyoming to Stella May and LeRoy Pollock, a farmer and land surveyor. In 1930, Jackson Pollock and his brother Charles moved to New York City to take classes at the Art Students League from Thomas Hart Benton. In 1945, Pollock married Lee Krasner and they moved out to East Hampton, Long Island, where he perfected his “drip” technique of painting.
Pollock suffered from alcoholism his entire adult life. He died on August 11, 1956 in an alcohol-related, single-car accident in which he was driving.
